There is a lot of talk about how a positive culture is beneficial to an organisation and how it should be linked to organisational goals. Besides that it is of great benefit to solving and preventing operational issues.

Why don’t a lot of smaller businesses invest in their values and culture?  Probably because a lot of the time they are dealing with organisational issues, fixing problems and getting work completed to ensure they can meet all their financial obligations – which includes paying their staff.   Small business owners are admirable and very hard working.  But what if investing in organisational values helps alleviate operational issues so small business owners don’t feel like they are chasing their tail all the time?

How you say?  Well, a positive culture is good for employee engagement, productivity, innovation and collaboration.  So;

  • Employees understand how to behave and what to base decisions on,
  • Employees will put extra effort in for a good outcome
  • Employees are happy to be at work, work together and less likely to leave
  • Open communication, teamwork and collaboration are enhanced
  • Customers are more likely to recommend the business because of perceived environment
  • The organisation will attract top level employees and leaders

These benefits as you can see would eliminate a lot of operational issues and therefore more time can be spent on strategy and building the business.
